Business Development Associate

At Rivers Agile we build and test software better than anyone else. We have an amazing team, enviable projects, and an ambitious growth trajectory. We need someone to find new customers, tell them our story, and rise to their software challenges.


Your job will be selling software consulting services to organizations that need them. The majority of your time will be spent finding qualified leads and working with the Rivers Agile leadership team to propose custom software services to them. Applicants local to Pittsburgh are strongly preferred.

  • Source new leads by researching and identifying potential accounts, attending networking events, social media networking, cold calling, and other techniques
  • Qualify leads by understanding prospect needs, timeline and budget capacity, and relevance to our core services 
  • Schedule pre-sales meetings with prospects and Rivers Agile leadership to discover the details needed to write a proposal
  • Attend conferences and networking events virtually and in-person when safe to do so

Desired qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in a sales role or in software delivery or development
  • Familiarity with the software industry, IT management, and professional services consulting
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with entrepreneurs and executive management, using these relationships to further grow a network and influence buying decisions
  • Passion for sales and business development, negotiating expectations, and solving customer problems
  • Experience with CRM processes and tools, including Salesforce
  • Ability to learn new industries rapidly and synthesize complex domain and technical information
  • Strong presentation skills paired with clear and confident communication
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
